Assisted Living
Assisted living at Botsford Commons Senior Community provides a safe and supportive environment for older adults needing some assistance with their daily routine. Each resident's care is customized to his or her individual needs to provide support and assistance while maintaining and promoting independence.
The center features 64 residential suites with private baths and generous living space for treasured personal furnishings. Each is easily accessible to community living, dining and social areas.
Botsford Commons Assisted Living Center is housed in a landmark structure with a rich history of compassion, caring and service to the community. Built in 1922, the building was designed by renowned Detroit architect Albert Kahn. It is characteristic of Kahn's style, incorporating red brick, a slate roof and arched doorways. Pewabic pottery tile inlays depicting children at play decorate the building's exterior walls while additional Pewabic tiles adorn the building's fireplaces.
The building was originally the home of the Michigan Hospital for Crippled Children. It came to be the Sister Kenney Hospital in the 1930s. In 1969, the structure was privately purchased and converted into the Farmington Nursing Home and later to the Botsford Assisted Living Center. This structure has undergone extensive renovations preserving the best of the past and putting it to work as part of a solution to today's challenges. The building's tradition as a symbol of compassion and caring continues.
